By joining a Home Group, you will bring your spiritual growth back to life.

Read what some people have to say about their home group:

"We started off having tea/coffee and eats, chat, share stories and are generally happy to see one another. We then open with prayer, start our discussions using the material provided where everyone has input, we sing, we laugh, we share and grow and close with prayer. Our loyalty and caring for one another gives us a wider scope for serving our EMC community and our Lord."

"Our meetings are characterized by much laughter and sharing. It is so rewarding to see each other grow individually and as a group as we support each other and simply CARE! The cherry on the top, so to speak, is pudding, which we enjoy together before we go home!"

What is a home group?

A small group of people who meet regularly once a week, at a fixed time in someone's home, in order to experience a discovery of God's word in which we all can share.

Why should I join a home group?

Home Groups provide a:

  • Place where you can experience the excitement of exploring the mysteries of our faith.
  • Place of social interaction with other members of the congregation over a friendly cup of tea.
  • Place of support and prayer when going through difficult times.

What is the aim of a home group?

The aim is to:

  • Deepen the fellowship and friendship amongst Christians.
  • Stimulate effective personal study of God's word.
  • Discover God's grace and truth for oneself.
  • Awaken one's mind and spirit.
  • Gain know how and experience in Christian growth.

Who can attend?

Groups are open to anyone and are led by trained leaders who assist members to participate and to feel welcome.

Where and when do home groups meet?

The church office has a list of names, addresses and telephone numbers of the various home group leaders and the day and time at which each group meets.

What is in it for me?

That depends on you, your participation and your commitment. However, you are likely to benefit by being able to:

  • Discover how God speaks through the Scriptures.
  • Share fellowship with other Christians and with the Lord.
  • Be fed spiritually and so grow into Christian maturity.
  • Realise God's power to save to the uttermost.
  • Be guided to an understanding of God's word and of its author.

When can I start?

As soon as the church office receives your registration form, you will be placed in a suitable group. The leader of that group will then contact you and invite you to join.

If you haven't been contacted two weeks after handing in your registration form, please contact June on 011 452 1135
